The Reality Show!

    mahesh ekka
By Mahesh Ekka

I started taking tuition for primary students at my home in Surguja (C.G) as a  part of our 'Project Gyan'. Presently eight students are directly getting the benefit of the project. As I am a teacher, I enjoy interacting with them. Like other children who get all the facilities in life, they have high dreams for themselves.

They are brilliant, but lack support in academics at home. Their illiterate or primary educated, busy in day-today activities are not able to help them even when they want to. However, some people still do not understand the value of education,. For them sending their child to school is to prevent them doing wrong things or to save lunch. Sometimes when their child can be given a work then work is preferred rather than sending him to school.

Some never get a chance to see a school

Girls who always have some work at home never get the chance to see the school still in some areas. When I tried to persuade some of the parents to sent their child to school as part of 'Project School', some of them agreed and sent their children to schools, but many were reluctant. I persuaded a family to enroll their 14 year daughter in class I. It was my biggest satisfaction.
